New advances in generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology are set to create more transformative opportunities for technology companies and organizations.   These developments come as data shows that while the rise of generative AI is real and optimism is high, not all organizations are generating tangible value yet. According to NTT DATA’s Global GenAI Report , 97% of CEOs expect a material impact from the technology and 99% of respondents are planning further investment in generative AI, despite only 43% of executives strongly agreeing that their current solutions are meeting expectations.    However, with the rise of AI agents , this situation will soon change, with the emergence of powerful use cases that will not only drive profits but also change the way organizations operate and employees do their jobs.

AI agents change the dial

NTT DATA’s report finds that 95% of organizations agree that technology is driving a new level of creativity and innovation , and that AI agents are a major step forward in the evolution of generative AI.   Beyond the simple question-and-answer functionality of today’s solutions, AI agents can execute tasks within workflows . The technology can operate autonomously, make decisions based on real-time analytics, and, most importantly, execute them.   It is this ability to ‘think’ and act autonomously that will enable the complete transformation of business workflows and unlock value.

Possible use cases for AI agents

In practical applications, AI agents are emerging in diverse fields such as autonomous vehicles, automated trading systems , healthcare, and life sciences , where they will be programmed to perform tasks, make decisions, and interact with their environment in a way that mimics human agency.   Hospitals and healthcare professionals , for example, will increasingly use AI-based diagnostic tools to analyze medical images and detect diseases.   In the insurance industry , we will soon see agents managing the end-to-end workflow of customer relationships. For example, an AI agent could update customer data with relevant information and complete complex tasks based on a customer query.  Explore CXO Insider for the latest innovations in Operations, IT, and Finance, featuring valuable insights from top C-Level industry leaders!  Source: https://www.cio.com/article/3801526/agentes-de-ia-por-que-esta-tecnologia-emergente-revolucionara-multiples-sectores.html
