Elastic today announced the nomination of Julia Liuson to its Board of Directors. Liuson brings over three decades of executive experience across software engineering and developer platforms. Most recently, she served as President of Microsoft’s Developer Division. In that role, she led technology strategy for Azure developer platform services. Additionally, she oversaw GitHub and spearheaded early AI integrations like GitHub Copilot. Her extensive industry background strengthens corporate leadership at Elastic.
Meanwhile, artificial intelligence actively transforms every core market across enterprise technology. Organizations build new AI agents to reason and act independently. They also apply intelligent automation to complex observability and security challenges. Consequently, companies require trusted internal data context to power production systems. Elastic provides this critical context layer by connecting AI models to live enterprise data in real time.

Broadening Enterprise Tech Expertise and Board Governance
Liuson originally joined Microsoft in 1992 as a software design engineer. She later became Corporate Vice President of the Developer Division in 2012. Eventually, she earned promotion to Division President in 2021. Throughout her tenure, she shaped strategy across Visual Studio, .NET, and Azure developer tools. Furthermore, she guided the broader implementation of AI throughout software development processes.
Currently, Liuson serves on the board of Cadence Design Systems, Inc. She also sits on the board of Wanderboat.AI and acts as a board observer at Schneider Electric SE. Furthermore, she holds an engineering degree from the University of Washington. WITI inducted her into the Women in Technology International Hall of Fame in 2019.
Under Dutch law, shareholders will vote on her nomination at the October 2026 meeting. Upon election, she will also join the Compensation Committee. Separately, Caryn Marooney notified the board that she will not seek re-appointment when her term ends in October 2026. She served through key phases of company expansion.

Ultimately, adding Liuson strengthens board oversight while Elastic advances its enterprise search and AI platform roadmap.
