Vanguard Chief Risk Officer leadership will transition to Manish Nagar beginning January 1, 2027. Vanguard announced the appointment alongside planned executive retirements within the company.
Manish Nagar Expands Leadership Role Across Global Risk Operations
Currently, Nagar leads Business & Operational Risk for Vanguard’s global client-facing businesses. He joined the company in 2000 and held leadership roles across investment management, cybersecurity, IT, and operational risk functions.
Additionally, Nagar previously served as chief risk officer for investment management and chief information security officer. He also managed risk operations for Vanguard’s European business division.
“Manish has helped shape how we think about risk for more than 25 years, helping us evolve from strong individual capabilities into a more integrated, enterprise discipline,” said Greg Davis, Vanguard president and chief investment officer. “He brings both depth and range across investments, IT, cyber, and operational risk, and he is a proven developer of talent who will help us continue to strengthen the next generation of Vanguard leaders.”
The company confirmed that Vanguard’s Global Risk & Security division will continue reporting to Greg Davis under Nagar’s leadership.
Nagar will succeed Joe Brennan, who plans to retire later this year after more than three decades at Vanguard. Brennan joined the company in 1991 and later served in several senior leadership positions.
Meanwhile, Vanguard also announced the retirement of John James, managing director of Workplace & Advisor Solutions. He will retire at the end of September after 18 years with the company.
