Pendo has announced the Pendo Chief AI Officer Appointment of Zain Lakhani as its first Chief AI Officer. The Pendo Chief AI Officer appointment will strengthen the organization’s efforts to advance agentic AI product development. It supports innovation and strategic growth. Additionally, it supports its expanding AI engineering strategy across platforms and enterprise tools.
Lakhani will lead AI engineering as Pendo scales its agentic product suite. Additionally, his role includes architecture, partnerships, and AI systems that work at the production level. He will report directly to Saurabh Sodani, the CDO.
“The software development lifecycle is being totally disrupted,” said Todd Olson, CEO and co-founder of Pendo. Teams are shipping faster than ever with AI, and the tools we use to understand and improve software need to catch up. Zain is helping us rethink what observability looks like for AI builders and rebuild the Pendo platform for companies making that shift.”
Driving Agentic AI Innovation at Scal
Lakhani comes to Pendo following his work with LightCI, where he helped scale up the business quickly. Before that, he was able to grow the business to a sizeable 250 employees. He achieved $100 million in revenue within four years. Lakhani has experience working with Google, Apple, OpenAI, and LangChain. Through the LightCI and Pendo partnership, Lakhani contributed to developing Agent Analytics and Novus. His role supported innovation and product advancement.
“Product managers used to spend their days looking at dashboards. Now they’re product engineers shipping code, using agents today’s analytics tools can’t keep up with the pace,” said Lakhani. “Pendo has more usage data than anyone, and customers who feel this pain acutely and want to solve it together. That’s a rare combination. I’m excited to bring everything I’ve learned building with AI to help Pendo solve this problem.”
