Mutual of Omaha appointed Chetan D. Kandhari as Chief Information Officer today. Chairman and CEO James Blackledge officially announced the executive appointment. Kandhari brings extensive digital modernization expertise to his new leadership role.

Recently, Kandhari served as Chief AI and Digital Transformation Officer at Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. During his tenure there, he directed major technology initiatives across several departments. He held key positions, including SVP and CIO for Enterprise Applications. Additionally, he managed systems as CIO for Personal Lines and Direct Distribution. His vast background strengthens the technology strategy at Mutual of Omaha.

Driving Enterprise Digital Modernization

Company executives expressed high confidence in Kandhari’s strategic technology capabilities. Consequently, Mutual of Omaha aims to accelerate ongoing innovation efforts across its platform.

Before joining Nationwide in 2005, Kandhari established his early career in consulting. He completed technical and advisory roles at Ernst & Young. Furthermore, he advised clients at Diamond Technology Partners. He built a strong academic foundation over his career. Kandhari earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Muskingum College. Later, he completed a master’s degree in computer science at Miami University of Ohio. Finally, he received an MBA from The Ohio State University.

Expanding Insurance and Financial Services

This critical role supports Mutual of Omaha’s long-term digital growth strategy. Kandhari will be responsible for all core IT applications and enterprise infrastructure going forward.
