Cloudflare today announced the appointment of Christian Smith as President of Revenue. The technology giant named Smith to lead its next phase of expansion toward five billion dollars in annual recurring revenue. In his new role, Smith will direct global go-to-market operations across international regions for Cloudflare. Furthermore, he will oversee global sales teams and revenue engineering operations. His team will focus on expanding enterprise adoption worldwide.
Smith brings over thirty years of technology leadership experience to his new position. Throughout his career, he has guided global enterprise sales, digital transformations, and cloud innovations.
Most recently, Smith led Splunk’s commercial business worldwide at Cisco. In that role, he directed global sales, renewals, sales engineering, and strategic alliances. Previously, he served as Chief Revenue Officer at Splunk. During his tenure, he guided Splunk through a major business model transformation. He helped scale annual recurring revenue beyond four billion dollars.
In addition, Smith pioneered the Unified Engagement Model. This modern sales methodology focuses on customer engagement, business outcomes, and cross-functional alignment. Consequently, his operational execution will strengthen sales momentum across all business units at Cloudflare.
“Christian has consistently proven he can lead global go-to-market organizations through periods of rapid expansion with discipline, operational rigor, and a steadfast focus on customers,” said Matthew Prince, CEO and co-founder at Cloudflare. “He shares our belief in Cloudflare’s mission and in the size of the opportunity in front of us. We are excited to have him on board for this next chapter.”
“I have long admired Cloudflare’s mission, relentless pace of innovation, and the extraordinary product engine Matthew, Michelle, and the team have built,” said Christian Smith, President of Revenue at Cloudflare. “The market opportunity for Cloudflare is massive. Joining at such a pivotal moment in the company’s trajectory is an incredible opportunity, and I look forward to working with our global teams and customers to accelerate this momentum as we continue helping to build a better Internet.”
Smooth Leadership Transition to Drive Continued Market Momentum
Smith succeeds Mark Anderson, who previously announced his decision to retire from full-time corporate roles. However, Anderson will remain with Cloudflare as an executive advisor through December to ensure a smooth transition.
Anderson originally joined the board of directors at Cloudflare in 2019. Later, he served as President of Revenue from 2024 through 2026. His ongoing guidance will help maintain operational continuity as Cloudflare pursues its long-term growth objectives.
“Mark has been an integral part of Cloudflare’s journey for more than six years, first as a member of our Board and then as our President of Revenue,” said Matthew Prince, CEO and co-founder at Cloudflare. “I want to thank Mark for his leadership and for the incredible impact he has had on our team and our customers. We are grateful that he will remain as an advisor to help ensure a smooth transition as we take on this next phase of growth.”
