Medical technology innovator Alphatec Holdings, Inc. has named Thomas “Tommy” Carls as Executive Vice President of Data Intelligence and Strategy. Consequently, Carls joins the Senior Leadership Team and reports directly to Chairman and CEO Pat Miles. In this newly created executive position, Carls oversees development and marketing efforts across EOSedge and EOS Insight. Furthermore, he manages data acquisition and analytics under the broader InformatiX platform initiative. Therefore, his team turns patient procedure information into actionable clinical insights. Additionally, his strategic leadership connects global teams and capabilities to focus commercial priorities.

Advancing the InformatiX Procedural Ecosystem

Furthermore, Carls brings over three decades of spine and medtech experience. Throughout his distinguished career, he developed and launched market-leading technologies across multiple surgical categories. Previously, he served as Vice President of Product and Clinical at Proprio Vision. In that position, he advanced an artificial intelligence-enabled surgical navigation platform. Prior to Proprio, Carls spent over two decades with Sofamor Danek and Medtronic in executive roles. His work spanned engineering, product development, marketing, and global research and development. In addition, he holds more than 80 patents. Moreover, Carls holds a mechanical engineering degree from Tulane and an MBA from Memphis.
