ASM Nominates Industry Leader Rutger Wijburg to Supervisory Board

Supervisory Board

ASM International N.V. today announced its plan to nominate Dr. Rutger Wijburg to its Supervisory Board. Shareholders will vote on his proposed appointment during an Extraordinary General Meeting in early March 2027.

Furthermore, Wijburg brings over thirty years of global experience in the semiconductor industry to the role. He previously joined Infineon Technologies AG in 2018. Subsequently, he served as Chief Operations Officer on its Management Board until 2025. Before Infineon, he directed operations at GlobalFoundries, NXP, and Philips Semiconductors. Currently, Wijburg serves on the Supervisory Board at ZEISS Group and SMART Photonics.

Pauline van der Meer Mohr, Chair of ASM’s Supervisory Board, commented: “We are pleased to propose Rutger Wijburg for appointment to the Supervisory Board of ASM. With more than three decades of experience in the semiconductor industry and a strong track record in manufacturing and operations, Rutger will further strengthen the expertise represented on our Supervisory Board. We look forward to benefiting from his insights and experience as ASM continues to execute its strategy and support customers at the leading edge of semiconductor innovation. The proposed appointment of Rutger Wijburg is part of our broader succession planning efforts.”

Governance Expansion and Strategic Leadership

Additionally, this nomination strengthens technical oversight as ASM advances semiconductor innovations. Joining the Supervisory Board allows Wijburg to guide ongoing growth strategies.

Consequently, executive leaders value his deep manufacturing expertise across global chip markets. His addition to the Supervisory Board reinforces strategic succession planning efforts. Meanwhile, current board members look forward to his operational insights.

Over the coming months, current leaders will familiarize Wijburg with corporate operations. Therefore, he will gain full insight into company activities before the shareholder vote. Ultimately, his presence on the Supervisory Board helps position ASM for continued market expansion. Finally, shareholders will ratify his position on the Supervisory Board at the next meeting.

Meanwhile, ASM speeds up investments in next-generation wafer processing technology to meet demand. Advanced deposition tools are still key for leading-edge chip manufacturing nodes. Wijburg’s operational background consequently enhances high-volume fabrication capability across key production facilities.

Furthermore, good governance allows ASM to grow in complex supply chains. The leadership team is dedicated to sustainable development in addition to technical product innovation. Thus, Wijburg’s strategic leadership delivers long-term value to global semiconductor customers.
