Board of Directors leadership continues to play a vital role in AV’s long-term growth strategy. AV has appointed William J. Lynn III to its Board of Directors, effective June 24, 2026. The appointment strengthens the company’s leadership while supporting future innovation and strategic growth.
Lynn also has decades of experience in government, national security, and defense technology. His strategic expertise will enhance the Board of Directors as AV continues to grow its leadership presence in an evolving global security environment. The company expects his guidance to support future business growth and technology advancement.
Wahid Nawabi, AV’s chairman, president, and chief executive officer, welcomed the appointment. He highlighted Lynn’s extensive background in defense and public company leadership.

Defense Executive Joins AV’s Board of Directors
Lynn served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Leonardo DRS, Inc. from 2012 until 2026. During his tenure, he led one of the industry’s leading defense electronics companies.
Earlier, he served as the 30th U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense between 2009 and 2011. He worked under Secretaries Robert Gates and Leon Panetta. As the Department’s chief operating officer, he led the development of its first cyber strategy.
Lynn held senior leadership positions at Raytheon Company, now RTX, and the Department of Defense. His previous responsibilities included serving as Under Secretary of Defense and Chief Financial Officer.
He graduated from Dartmouth College and earned a J.D. from Cornell Law School. He also received an M.P.A. in international affairs from Princeton University.
