eSentire announced the appointment of James C. Foster as Chief Executive Officer. He succeeds Kerry Bailey, who retires after leading strong company growth. Foster brings over two decades of cybersecurity leadership experience. He has built and scaled several market-defining cybersecurity companies. His appointment strengthens eSentire’s mission to deliver managed detection and response services. The company continues to combat rapidly evolving cyber threats.
Foster founded ZeroFox and served as its chairman and CEO. He led the company to a successful public listing. Additionally, ZeroFox achieved over 30 consecutive quarters of ARR growth. It expanded across four continents and completed five acquisitions. The company also protects thousands of organizations worldwide.
Experience and Future Vision
Earlier, Foster founded Ciphent, which quickly grew in the United States. It served over 1,000 enterprise customers, including 43 Fortune 100 firms. Later, it merged with Accuvant, now known as Optiv. He also helped scale Accuvant toward $500 million in annual revenue. Foster worked as an operating partner at NightDragon and supported several cybersecurity firms. He also contributed to national security efforts at the Department of Defense. Moreover, he authored multiple books on cyber threats and defense strategies.
“eSentire has built something truly exceptional – a 25-year track record of growth and protecting many of the world’s most targeted organizations, a world-class team of threat hunters and security analysts, and an AI-powered platform in Atlas that is unmatched in the MDR space,” said Foster. “The threat landscape is evolving faster than ever, and organizations need a cybersecurity partner who can meet that pace with both agentic and human expertise. I am honored to work alongside this outstanding team and ensure that eSentire is delivering on our mission: hunting, investigating, and stopping cyber threats before they become business-disrupting events.”
