Northern Trust Wealth Management Names Eric Freedman Chief Investment Officer

Northern Trust has appointed Eric Freedman as the new Chief Investment Officer for its Wealth Management business. This appointment is effective immediately, starting on December 2. Freedman will guide the entire private client investment practice. This role involves leading more than 200 portfolio managers nationwide. Furthermore, he will oversee the evolution of the firm’s investment platform and offerings. He reports directly to Wealth Management President Jason Tyler.

Freedman succeeds Katie Nixon, who has led the investment office since 2012. Nixon now assumes leadership of the high-growth Northeast Region. This region is strategically important for the company. Katie Nixon is recognized for her strong strategic instinct. She helped shape Northern Trust’s investment philosophy over the years. This leadership change ensures strong client alignment across the firm.

New Leadership for Investor Uncertainty

Freedman brings more than twenty years of deep investment experience. This experience spans global asset allocation and portfolio management. Previously, he served as the Chief Investment Officer at U.S. Bank. There, he oversaw the firm’s entire Asset Management Group. His career also includes senior roles at Goldman Sachs. Jason Tyler noted that investors face more information and uncertainty today. Eric’s leadership will further strengthen the platform. It will also deliver consistency for private clients.
