Leo Snetsinger’s professional story is anything but typical. A seasoned engineer, founder, and systems builder, Leo once ran an indoor shrimp farm before cementing his role as a leader in platform engineering and DevOps.

Born in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and raised across Plymouth and Crystal, Leo faced early challenges—living on his own at just 16. That independence built the resilience and curiosity that now drive his success. “Hard work overcomes all obstacles,” he says—a mantra that’s carried him from hands-on IT roles to earning a Master’s in Information Systems Management and a place in the Sigma Beta Delta honor society.

Currently a Senior Platform and DevOps Engineer, Leo has led major infrastructure shifts, notably at Jun Group, where he spearheaded the migration from AWS ECS to Kubernetes (EKS) and later introduced Google’s GKE for multi-cloud readiness. His work integrates advanced deployment tools like ArgoCD and Argo Rollouts, streamlining processes for scale and speed.

Among his standout projects is a machine learning deployment system using Ray Serve on Kubernetes—designed to be efficient, scalable, and accessible to data scientists. Leo’s long-standing impact is clear—one of his software solutions, built two decades ago, remains in use today.

Yet Leo’s systems mindset extends beyond cloud computing. As the founder of Homeland Shrimp, he engineered an indoor shrimp farming system with a thermodynamically balanced environment, titanium heat exchangers, and a closed-loop oxygen system. “It’s all about animal health and system efficiency,” he explains, treating aquaculture like another engineering challenge.

Despite his tech credentials, Leo remains deeply community-driven. He volunteers for Senior Community Services HOME program, offering yard work assistance for seniors in Sherburne County. He also supports Imagine Farm, advocating for sustainable, inclusive agriculture.

A personal turning point came five years ago after a difficult mistake prompted him to quit drinking. “I haven’t had a drink since,” he shares. “It changed my life.”

Leo’s story resonates because it reflects perseverance, reinvention, and purpose. Whether refining Kubernetes clusters or maintaining shrimp tanks, his approach stays consistent—solve real problems, learn continuously, and never lose sight of the bigger system.

“Enjoy what you do and keep growing,” Leo says. “It’s simple, but it works.”
