The Hartford announced a major update to its corporate leadership team today. The financial giant appointed seasoned insurance executive Randy Larsen to its board of directors. The strategic appointment becomes officially effective on Sept. 1.

Larsen will step into key governance roles immediately upon joining. He will serve on the board’s Finance, Investment and Risk Management Committee. Additionally, he joins the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee.

Larsen brings a wealth of executive experience to this role. He previously spent 13 highly successful years at AssuredPartners. This prominent brokerage firm offers comprehensive commercial property and casualty coverage. The company also provides employee benefits and specialty insurance lines.

Larsen served as the Chief Executive Officer from 2023 until 2025. He led the firm through its high-profile acquisition by Gallagher. Furthermore, he drove significant growth initiatives during his long tenure. He successfully managed both organic expansion strategies and large-scale acquisitions.

The insurance veteran also directed major operational transformation efforts. Before his CEO tenure, he earned several promotions. He previously worked as the president of Retail operations. He also managed the Western Regions and Central States divisions.

His corporate track record spans over several decades. Earlier in his career, he became a partner at Schifman Remley & Associates. He worked at the brokerage firm for 14 years. AssuredPartners eventually acquired that specific firm back in 2012.

Larsen also held key leadership roles at Mark Twain Bancshares. Later, he served as president at Mercantile Bancshares. He holds a formal bachelor’s degree in finance. He graduated directly from Nebraska Wesleyan University.
