IonQ has officially expanded its Board of Directors by appointing tech finance expert Dr. Eric Ball and former Samsung North America CEO Timothy Baxter.
Consequently, both executives bring immense strategic experience to guide IonQ through its next phase of rapid commercial expansion. The company continues to advance as a leading full-stack quantum platform and foundry enterprise.
Furthermore, these board appointments align directly with ongoing operational initiatives across the organization. The enterprise focuses heavily on scaling manufacturing capabilities while integrating complex components across its complete hardware architecture.

Leveraging Decades of Financial and Enterprise Leadership
Dr. Eric Ball brings nearly 40 years of senior executive financial experience to IonQ. He previously managed corporate finance functions at leading global technology brands, including AT&T, Cisco, and Flextronics.
Additionally, Dr. Ball served for ten years as Senior Vice President and Treasurer at Oracle. During his tenure at Oracle, he arranged $52 billion in corporate financing. Moreover, he actively participated in core M&A teams executing over 100 strategic acquisitions. He holds a PhD in Management Economics and has published two business books.
Meanwhile, Timothy Baxter brings extensive corporate management experience to the IonQ board. He previously served as Chairman of the Board of Directors at SkyWater Technology. That relationship culminated in the recently completed corporate acquisition executed by IonQ.
Over his 40-year career, Baxter held senior leadership positions across major technology giants, including AT&T and Sony. Eventually, he rose to become Chief Executive Officer of Samsung North America.
Throughout his industry career, Baxter helped launch transformative consumer and enterprise technologies. He successfully oversaw global rollouts for 5G networking, High-Definition Television (HDTV), and Blu-ray format standards.
Today, Baxter serves on numerous private and public corporate boards. His practical experience empowers executive decision-making in high-volume tech manufacturing operations.
