Hitachi Vantara, the data storage, infrastructure, and hybrid cloud management subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., announced a significant leadership transition today. The company also confirmed that Akinobu Shimada, the President of Hitachi Vantara Japan, will take the role of Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2026. He will take over the role of CEO from Sheila Rohra, who will resign on March 31, 2026, due to personal reasons.
Sheila Rohra’s Leadership and Strategic Contributions
Sheila Rohra joined the company in February 2023 and has over twenty years of leadership experience. She enhanced the company’s strategic direction while accelerating the company’s growth and increasing its footprint in the global technology industry. She also enhanced the company’s profitability, steady revenue growth, and continued innovation in the company’s enterprise data infrastructure segment. The company also expanded its storage technology platforms and introduced Hitachi iQ, which is used in AI-ready infrastructure for the company’s enterprise customers.
The company also developed strategic partnerships with NVIDIA and Supermicro to accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence and hybrid cloud technologies. Sheila Rohra also developed strategic partnerships that enhanced the company’s customer value and expanded the company’s footprint in the global markets. As she prepares to leave the company, Hitachi Vantara expressed appreciation for her leadership, vision, and long-term contributions.

Akinobu Shimada to Lead the Next Phase
Akinobu Shimada will assume the CEO position while continuing to serve as President of Hitachi Vantara Japan. He has spent more than three decades at Hitachi, leading major initiatives in business strategy, product development, and technology innovation. Most recently, he served as Global Executive and President of Hitachi Vantara Japan, advancing the company’s global data infrastructure services. His career has focused strongly on storage technology and enterprise data systems across hardware and software platforms. Through his leadership, the company strengthened mission-critical reliability while advancing innovative approaches to enterprise data management.
