Group 1001 Insurance, an integrated and technology-driven financial services entity, announced George Haj as Chief Communications Officer. In this executive leadership role, Haj will report directly to President and Chief Executive Officer Dan Towriss. Furthermore, he will guide Group 1001 across its core communication and content operations.
As Chief Communications Officer, Haj directs all communications functions across the entire family of brands. Specifically, he manages executive and CEO communications, employee messaging, and public media relations. His strategic guidance will align corporate messaging as Group 1001 expands its market presence nationwide.
“George brings a combination of communications expertise, leadership experience, and strategic vision,” Towriss said. “Having worked alongside our teams as a consultant for several years, he already knows our business, our people, and our story. We are confident in the energy and perspective he brings.”
Strategic Leadership and Journalistic Background
Before accepting this internal appointment, Haj led Haj Media, a strategic communications firm that he founded nine years ago. During his tenure, he advised top law firms, enterprise corporations, and major non-profit organizations. Consequently, he brings deep industry expertise to Group 1001 and its growing brand ecosystem.
Earlier in his career, Haj established a strong reputation in traditional print journalism. He served as business editor for major publications, including the Miami Herald and the Houston Chronicle.
In addition, he guided newsroom teams on two separate Pulitzer Prize-winning reporting projects. His journalistic leadership earned widespread recognition for breaking news coverage, investigative reporting, and business journalism.
Corporate Storytelling and Community Commitment
Now at Group 1001, Haj will leverage his journalistic background to shape high-impact corporate narratives. He will champion the company’s core mission while building strong relationships with industry partners and media outlets.
“I’m honored to join Group 1001’s leadership team,” Haj said. “The company’s vision Growth for All, Growth for Good informs how Group 1001 serves its customers, partners, and employees. I look forward to helping tell that story across the company and its brands as the business continues to grow.”
Beyond his executive career, Haj actively maintains a strong commitment to community leadership. Currently, he serves on the board of directors for the GableStage Theatre Company in South Florida.
Additionally, he contributes to Mosaic Miami, an organization dedicated to connecting diverse local cultures, religions, and races. His broad perspective will further enhance how Group 1001 connects with communities and key stakeholders.
