DNSFilter Appoints Justin Foster to its Executive Team as CTO

DNSFilter

DNSFilter recently announced a major leadership expansion. The company appointed Justin Foster as its new Chief Technology Officer. Moreover, through this appointment, the company reinforces its executive team, considering that it has made recent additions among the top executives. As a result, the company is fast-tracking its AI-driven security infrastructure expansion efforts.

Justin Foster has joined DNSFilter from his former job at Forescout, where he was the Chief Technology Officer and responsible for the research and development of the company. Additionally, he has more than 25 years of experience in security. His background covers cloud security, server protection, and encryption analytics. Earlier, he co-founded Cysiv before its acquisition by Forescout. Additionally, he held key technical roles at Trend Micro and Third Brigade.

Tackling Shadow AI and DNS-First Protection

Modern workers embrace generative AI technologies at a rate quicker than the IT team can keep up with. According to statistics, AI security is considered by 40.3% of businesses as their primary investment. But 43% of organizations realize unauthorized access to AI technologies only after an incident happens. Hence, Shadow AI becomes the main problem for CISOs moving into 2027. Every connection starts with a lookup hence, DNSFilter blocks the request before the model and storage of data are loaded.

“Justin has built security companies from the ground up – he co-founded Cysiv, then ran R&D at Forescout. We just launched LUMINATE by DNSFilter™ at Nasdaq and opened the platform up to a much bigger market, and Justin is the right leader to scale it. Our customers are going to see the impact in the product quickly,” said Ken Carnesi, CEO of DNSFilter.

“Shadow AI is one of the biggest gaps security teams face today, and it starts with the first connection a user makes,” said Justin Foster, CTO, DNSFilter. “I’m joining DNSFilter at a strategically important time. The new platform LUMINATE by DNSFilter™ extends our DNS-first protection capabilities to include AI governance and controls, behavior analytics, and threat intelligence for the first time. I look forward to working with Ken and the team to build on that amazing foundation and scaling it for all our customers and partners.”
