Alcoa Corporation announced Emily Olson will join on April 6, 2026, as Executive Vice President, Chief External Affairs Officer. She will lead global external affairs, communications, government affairs, stakeholder engagement, and Alcoa Foundation operations. She will work closely with executives to advance strategy, strengthen global stakeholder relationships, and improve corporate governance outcomes. The announcement supports long term growth, sustainability, and responsible business operations worldwide today.

Global Career and Industry Expertise

Olson brings over 20 years of leadership experience across capital-intensive industries in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Previously, she served as Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer at Vale Base Metals. She led integrated global teams across sustainability, communications, licensing, and government relations functions. Emily Olson advised the CEO and board on geopolitical risks and strategic nontechnical risks globally. She supported business expansion initiatives in Indonesia.

Before private sector roles, she served as legislative staff in the United States House of Representatives. She also worked in agricultural public policy sectors, developing regulatory and stakeholder policies effectively. Olson holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Loyola University Chicago and a master’s degree in international strategy and diplomacy from the London School of Economics. These academic qualifications strongly support her global diplomatic and strategic corporate leadership capabilities.
