Butterfly Network announced the appointment of Mike Noonen to its Board of Directors today. His official appointment takes effect on October 9, 2026. Furthermore, Noonen will serve actively on both the Compensation Committee and the Technology Committee. Consequently, this strategic addition expands the governing board to seven members. In addition, the arrival of Noonen strengthens the corporate leadership of Butterfly during an important operational growth phase.
Specifically, Noonen brings 30 years of deep semiconductor industry experience to the governing board. His past executive leadership contributed directly to two successful initial public offerings and multiple strategic acquisitions. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Swave Photonics. Before that role, he led MixComm as CEO until Sivers Semiconductors acquired the enterprise in 2022.
Earlier in his executive career, Noonen directed global operations for major technology corporations. For instance, he served as Executive Vice President at GlobalFoundries, leading product design, sales, and marketing. Likewise, he held the role of Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales at NXP Semiconductors. Furthermore, he co-founded Silicon Catalyst, the first dedicated startup incubator for silicon technology ventures. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University.
“Butterfly is thrilled to bring in an industry veteran as we continue to grow our semiconductor business,” said Joseph DeVivo, President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Butterfly. “Mike’s perspective will be a valuable addition to our Board as we continue to advance our multi-faceted platform strategy, develop our next generation of silicon and build out the Butterfly Embedded™ ecosystem.”
“Butterfly took semiconductor technology into medical imaging and changed who can access ultrasound. It was an exciting proof of concept, and the platform is only at the start of its potential,” said Mr. Noonen. “I’m excited to join the Board and work with Joe and the team as Butterfly advances its technology and expands into new markets.”
Advancing Next-Generation Silicon Innovation and Medical Imaging
Therefore, the deep technical expertise of Noonen aligns perfectly with the strategic growth roadmap at Butterfly. The company pioneers portable ultrasound solutions combining programmable cloud software and advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. Moreover, the team continues building out its proprietary silicon architecture for global healthcare providers.
Eventually, this corporate board expansion will accelerate new product development across global markets. As a result, Butterfly remains positioned to transform digital medical imaging through continuous technology innovation.
