Healthcare leader Cencora, Inc. today announced a key addition to its leadership team. The company’s Board of Directors elected Robert E. Sanchez as a new independent director. His official term begins on October 1, 2026.
Mr. Sanchez brings decades of executive supply chain experience to Cencora. Currently, he serves as Executive Chair of Ryder System, Inc. Previously, he led Ryder as Chair and Chief Executive Officer until March 2026. Before becoming CEO in 2013, he spent two decades managing various core business divisions. His earlier roles included President, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer.
“Robert’s experience as a public-company CEO, including his deep understanding of logistics and supply chains, will complement the Board’s skill set as we support Cencora’s pharmaceutical-centric strategy. Furthermore, executive leaders expect Mr. Sanchez to enhance operational planning at Cencora. His deep background in logistics will strengthen global distribution networks. Moreover, his insights will help guide long-term pharmaceutical initiatives.

In addition to joining Cencora, Mr. Sanchez serves on the Board of Directors of Texas Instruments. Additionally, he works as a Trustee for the University of Miami. Educationally, Mr. Sanchez holds an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Miami. Ultimately, his appointment positions Cencora for continued growth and innovation.
