Ophthalmic innovator STAAR Surgical officially appointed Ben Park, Ph.D., as Chief Technology Officer today. Consequently, Dr. Park joins the Executive Committee under President and Chief Executive Officer Warren Foust. The key leadership hire supports the broader strategic goal at STAAR Surgical. Specifically, the company aims to evolve into a multi-product medtech platform.

Dr. Park transitioned to STAAR Surgical after leading emerging technology teams at Align Technology since 2018. During his tenure, he guided multidisciplinary engineering and software teams across global markets. His teams successfully took complex medical concepts from early development through commercial launches.

Expanding the Global Medtech Footprint
Previously, Dr. Park served as Chief Technology Officer at Fingertips Lab. There, he launched health devices for visually impaired users across ten international markets. Earlier in his career, he directed intracardiac imaging projects at Volcano Corporation. Furthermore, he co-founded Fluid Medical to invent intravascular ultrasound imaging platforms. He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University along with forty patents.
Therefore, his deep technical expertise strengthens the upcoming commercial roadmap for STAAR Surgical. Dr. Park will join executive colleagues at the ESCRS Congress in London this September. Thus, executive leadership will engage global ophthalmic surgeons to discuss future refractive solutions.
