Align Technology announced key board updates. The organization has officially appointed Quentin Blackford to its Board of Directors. Blackford currently serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of iRhythm Technologies. Therefore, his strategic arrival brings vital experience in commercial scaling.
Concurrently, Align Technology announced the upcoming retirement of Andrea L. Saia. Saia concludes 13 years of distinguished service on the board. Her official retirement takes effect on September 23, 2026.
“We are pleased to welcome Quentin Blackford to our Board,” said Kevin Conroy, Chairman of the Board of Align Technology. “Quentin is an exceptional leader whose accomplishments in global healthcare, medical technology, and digital innovation speak for themselves. His breadth of experience, strategic judgment, and commitment to advancing patient care will be tremendous assets to Align as we continue to shape the future of digital dentistry around the world.”
Proven Operational Expertise and Governance
Mr. Blackford brings extensive executive experience across global healthcare. Before iRhythm, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Dexcom. Consequently, he directed global operations and strategic expansion. He has also served as a leader in companies such as NuVasive and Zimmer Holdings. In addition, Blackford is currently a board member of Alphatec Holdings. He is an alumnus of Grace College, where he earned degrees in accounting and business.
Ms. Saia has been serving on the board since 2013. She has helped Align Technology grow since then.
“Andrea has been an exceptional member of our Board and a trusted advisor to management,” said Joe Hogan, president and CEO of Align Technology. “Her deep expertise, thoughtful counsel, and unwavering commitment to strong governance have helped guide Align through a period of significant growth and innovation. On behalf of the Board and the entire Align team, I want to thank Andrea for her many contributions and years of dedicated service.”
Additionally, Align Technology will include Blackford in its 2027 proxy statement slate. The appointment temporarily expands the Align Technology board to 11 directors. In this regard, Saia’s exit from the board in September 2026 brings the number of directors down to 10. In this way, Align Technology is set to have very good governance in the future.
Going forward, this change in the governance strategy is intended to position Align Technology favorably to advance its digital dentistry ecosystem and expand into new markets worldwide. Blackford’s experience in bringing growth technology products to the market will aid in this process.
