Malwarebytes Expands Consumer Growth Strategy with Appointment of Netspend CEO Michael Weissman to Board

Growth Strategy

Malwarebytes recently announced two major executive appointments to scale its operations. The cybersecurity provider appointed Michael Weissman to its Board of Directors. Concurrently, the company hired Joey Klein as Senior Vice President of Product. These strategic hires strengthen the company’s long-term Growth Strategy. Consequently, the business aims to expand its digital life protection platform. Consumers face rising AI-enabled scams and identity fraud online. Thus, Malwarebytes is accelerating product innovation to meet growing market demand.

“Cybersecurity has fundamentally changed. Protecting people today means more than stopping malware. It means helping consumers make smarter choices online, avoid scams and protect their identities,” said Marcin Kleczynski, Co-founder and CEO, Malwarebytes. “Malwarebytes saw this shift years ago and started building a platform for scam and identity protection. Now, with the help of these two seasoned leaders, Malwarebytes can scale for its next chapter.”

Strengthening Executive Leadership and Innovation

Weissman brings extensive fintech and subscription expertise to aid the company’s Strategy. Currently, he serves as chief executive officer at Netspend. Previously, he held executive roles at SoundCloud, Vimeo, and ForgeLight. His background will help guide Malwarebytes through its next scaling phase.

“Too many consumers still lack simple, effective tools to protect themselves online. Malwarebytes has the platform, the team and the momentum to change that,” Weissman said. “I’m excited to join the board and help guide the company through its next stage of growth.”

Meanwhile, Klein brings substantial consumer subscription experience to advance the product roadmap. He previously led product teams at Hippo Insurance, Green Chef, and Disney. In his new role, he will focus on simplifying user experiences. His efforts directly support the overarching Growth Strategy across consumer markets.

“Consumers are increasingly expecting a simple and seamless security experience while the world is becoming more complex and fragmented,” said Mark Beare, Head of Consumer, Malwarebytes. “Joey has a track record of making complex experiences simple and less overwhelming for end users. If security solutions aren’t easy to use and simple to understand, people won’t turn on the much-needed layers of protection.”

Through these leadership additions, Malwarebytes reinforces its core Growth Strategy. Furthermore, the company aligns its business model with evolving digital protection requirements. These appointments mark a vital step in executing their consumer Growth Strategy effectively.
